A typical working day in pictures

Get up in the morning, rush through my bath and breakfast, etc....it's totally synchronized down to the last second, so any unforeseen interruptions like lengthy, chatty phone calls, people who suddenly decide to drop in after their morning walks, and other assorted visitors throw me off my schedule. Days when there's no time to eat, I buy a frooti and that's my breakfast juice. I run out of the house, willing the hands of the clock to stop moving so fast, and (on good days) drive down to work. I like this drive because I leave the hustle and bustle of the city, and have nearly an hour's worth of peace and quiet before my workday really starts. Sometimes I sing at the top of my lungs once I'm out of the city, and I've also been known to carry out a conversation with myself:

My little cubbyhole of an office awaits me. I arrive, draw the curtains, open the window, get settled in, and either read up on my notes or work at my PC:

Then it's lunch, which I forgo some days; after my work is done, I wearily drive back the bumpy, torturous and winding 18 kms back. On certain days, I go straight to my part time job as an anchor for a TV station, which has to be located on the opposite end of the city. Believe me, it's tough to try to look good after a hectic day's work, but that's when the dressing room and the make-up experts weave their magic and I somehow end up looking at least passable:The show is Live, and unpredictable and therefore it is impossible to let down your guard. Depending on the guests for the night, it's either an enjoyable one hour that whizzes by, or a slow, excruciating sixty minutes that simply crawl by. I have been known to look a bit too animated on good days, and bored out of my mind on bad days, so I guess you can't win 'em all.
When I'm very, very fortunate, there are days when I even manage to squeeze in time with my family, and those are the ones that I really cherish, although, to be frank, some days I just want to crawl into bed and sleep when I have some free time, but pulling on those jeans and some enthusiasm is always worth it at the end of the day.

  4. Nice. I wasn't aware of your showbiz side but hey, you seem to have your hands capably full. So what kinds of shows do you host and does that entitle you to a celeb status?

  5. So this must be what they mean when they say, "No rest for the wicked"! :D You know what, I love your campus but the bus timings and the road between it and Tanhril just kills me arghhh. Hey, I still haven't caught your showbiz appearances. Must remember to get a look-in sometime. And I'd love to sneak into the back of your car someday and listen to you talk to yourself. With a lifestyle as frenetic as that, you might be a prime candidate for the loony bin sooner than you think :P

  7. @philo, it ain't showbiz, and NO I am most certainly not a Celeb! It's just a small show which we part-timers take turns hosting; issues I've done in the past include AIDS, Disaster Management, education for the physically impaired, health issues...that sort of thing, no big deal!

@calliopia...the road's worsened; whereas before, we would avoid the bumpy and patchy parts that kept cropping up between relatively smooth stretches, now we have very rare, occasional patches of smooth turf and the rest is all "bumps and a grind". My so-called showbiz appearances will hopefully remain unknown and unseen by you, for I have no intention of telling you when or where! As for the loony bin... it just might be sooner rather than later, sob sob.

  8. But the harder we work, the more accomplishing we feel at the end of the month when we receive our fat pay-check. That feeling is so amazing.

I haven't worked again after I quit my job and then that whole IIM thing went for a toss etc, but I will never forget the feeling we get as we spend our first hard-earned money.

Really looking forward to work again, and hoping I can search for such work once my sister gets better.

In the end, hard work really does pay off.

Being busy is life. I am a workaholic myself. LoL. I prefer it better than being bored dead without doing anything. ~o-o~

Was in such a big hurry I forgot to rotate the picture before I posted it, and then with my extremely limited knowledge of this whole blogging thing, I don't know how to change it anymore. Now that i think of it, it seems so apt anywah, coz there are days when I don't know wich side is up! Thanks for the visit.

@Joseph...of course I'd make a good wife. I only wish other men were as smart as you and realize this profound truth soon! However, I must confess to occasionally singing in the bathroom...
